Institutional and political determinants of poverty reduction and growth in Africa
The area of research is in relation to Institutional and political determinants of poverty reduction and growth in Africa, under the supervision of Professor Tom Lodge. The reason for this course of study is to try and establish, firstly, whether African countries efforts to promote growth and attempts to foster poverty reduction are mutually symbiotic, and secondly, are democratic politics, public participation in budgetary policy and institutional reform including decentralisation and the reconstruction of local governments, key variables in explaining growth and poverty reduction in Africa.
