Convergence and Divergence Between the European Union and the United States with respect to the Middle East Peace Process

The aim of this research is to examine the idea that convergence and divergence exist between the EU and the US with respect to the Middle East Peace Process. It is argued that convergence is, in fact, necessary in order to achieve any degree of progress in peace negotiations between the Palestinian Authority and the state of Israel. In order to achieve this, there will be an examination of policy documents and statements made and pursued by both main actors over the last twenty years. There will also be examination of these ideas in relation to conflict mediation theory in terms of how best international actors can work together in order to further the cause of peace between Arabs and Israelis.
