The Department of Politics and Public Administration has a research ethos that is well-established and consciously sustained. Within this context, doctoral research and supervision is a vital part of the departmental research culture. We strive to support an inclusive research community that embraces different approaches and areas. With a regular average of thirty plus PhD students, doctoral students and their research are a conspicuous and welcome part of our department.

In order to foster social as well as academic support for our PhD students, the department supports two research clusters in 'International Politics and Development' and 'European Politics and Public Policy'. These, in addition to other departmental research forums, ensure that doctoral students are able to maintain a lively and interactive intellectual life within the department.
