Lecturer in Strength and Conditioning & Course Director of MSc. Sports Performance

Teaching and Research Interests:

Mark currently teaches on the Sport and Exercise Science degree programme, where his interests are broadly based in the areas of Strength and Conditioning and Sports Performance. Previously, Mark has worked as a senior lecturer on undergraduate and post-graduate programmes at Newman University College, Birmingham, UK. His research interests are primarily focused on:

* The effects of exercise intensity and fatigue on sports performance
* Physical activity and obesity in paediatric populations
* Strength and conditioning as well as performance-related issues in various sporting groups

Personal Profile:

Dr Mark Lyons joined the Physical Education and Sport Sciences Department in September 2011. Prior to commencing this role, he completed both a BSc. and PhD at Newman University College. Mark is currently a BASES accredited exercise physiologist (scientific support). His PhD explored the effects of moderate and high-intensity exercise on sports-related performance.
