Opportunities and support for postgraduate study in PESS
PESS has a strong complement of postgraduate students with over 40 postgraduate students who have chosen to pursue, either full-time or part-time, a Masters or PhD. A PESS Postgraduate Development Fund provides opportunities for PESS postgraduate students to access funding for professional development and project running costs.

The Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences (PESS) in the University of Limerick is offering an opportunity for a Physical Education teacher and / or coach to engage in a two-year part-time Research Masters. The PESS Department will contribute €3000 per year over the two-years towards the fees.
Possible areas of interest:

Assessment – investigation of assessment practices that provide students and teachers with meaningful worthwhile and relevant Physical Education experiences (Ann.MacPhail@ul.ie)

Fundamental motor skills - development of fundamental motor skills in children or adolescents in or outside the school context (Tom.Comyns@ul.ie & Missy.Parker@ul.ie)

Teacher Voice- investigating teachers’ perspectives on recent developments in Irish Physical Education (Mary.OSullivan@ul.ie)

Coaching – evaluating coaching philosophy and practice and its impact on long term participation and performance (Giles.Warrington@ul.ie)

Essential criteria for applicant:
BSc/BEd in Physical Education/Sport and Exercise Science or cognate discipline. Currently teaching Physical Education in a Post Primary School or actively coaching in the Irish sports system.
