Robin Healy Wins the EHS/HRI Dean's Award for Excellence in Postgraduate Research - April 2017
 
Congratulations to PESS PG student Robin Healy who won the University of Limerick’s 2017 Education and Health Sciences (EHS) and Health Research Institute (HRI) Dean’s award for Excellence in Postgraduate Research.  The presentations by the finalists for the Dean’s Award took place on Wednesday 19th April.  The event promotes and celebrates excellence in postgraduate students’ research.  The aim of the forum is to showcase the excellence of emerging researchers who will promote future research in Ireland.  Robin Healy is supervised by Dr. Drew Harrison and Dr. Ian Kenny from the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences.

Robin’s presentation on his PhD research discussed the development of best practice in strength training for athletes.  In addition there were excellent presentations at the awards by PESS postgraduate representatives Rachel Clancy  who presented on the motivation of elite athletes and Cormac Powell who presented on novel insights into the physical activity continuum and cardiometabolic health in adults.
