Currently with a core of 5 faculty, ten post-graduate students and up to 15 undergraduate students on a yearly basis, the Biomechanics Research Unit (BRU) is growing. To date the BRU has graduated twenty three postgraduate students at both MSc and PhD level and continues to gain strength in research and postgraduate supervision.
The level of funding gained by this relatively small unit is large for its size and specialised discipline and the unit frequently publishes work in high quality scientific journals. The faculty and post-graduates of the BRU travel internationally to many conferences to disseminate research findings and have established successful collaboration links across the world.
The BRU has been successful in graduating 19 PhD level graduates since 2000. The associated staff of the BRU teach on Sport & Exercise Sciences (BSc) and Physical Education (BSc) academic programmes in UL.
Mission Statement
