New Dean, College of Business
Professor Donal A Dineen Professor
Donal A Dineen has been appointed Dean, College of Business at the University
of Limerick. He had been Head, Department of Economics, at the University
immediately prior to his appointment as Dean. Currently he is also Deputy
Chairperson of the University's Governing Authority. Professor Dineen
joined the faculty at the University of Limerick in 1973 and has been
closely involved in the development of the Business School there since
its foundation when only 30 undergraduate students were enrolled. There
are now almost 2,000 students and 75 full-time faculty in the College
of Business. New Director of Human Resources
Anna Doughan has been appointed the new Director of Human Resources at UL. Originally from Co. Carlow, Anna has a BA from UCD and MSc from Trinity. She has spent most of her career with the Department of Education and Science where she worked in diverse areas including policy and planning. She has also worked as Head of Personnel and, most recently, in the areas of organisation development and change management. Anna was particularly involved with the process of modernisation across the wider Civil Service through the Steering Groups on Human Resources and Customer Service.
New Adjunct Professor at the College of Business Mr. Patrick Cunneen was recently appointed as an Adjunct Professor in Organisational Behaviour to the Department of Personnel & Industrial Relations. Mr. Cunneen was a member of the start-up team that established Analog Devices in Limerick in 1976; he was Director of HR at Analog's largest facility in Massachusetts in the late 1980's; and most recently, has been Director of Human Resources for Analog's Worldwide Manufacturing Group. In that role, he supervised the delivery of HR services and support to Analog's manufacturing facilities in the US, Ireland, Philippines and Taiwan. Professor Cunneen's principal role will be to contribute to teaching, primarily post-graduate programmes and will collaborate in research on organisational development and change. He has a B.Comm from UCD; an MBS from UL and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development. He has presented and chaired at major conferences in Ireland, UK, US and Asia. As the role of Personnel/Human Resource management evolves, his truly global experience and perspective together with his extensive international network and strong relationship with CIPD, represents an important addition to the University and to the Dept. of Personnel & Industrial Relations. Mr. Patrick Cunneen was recently appointed as an Adjunct Professor in Organisational Behaviour to the Dept.of Personnel & Industrial Relations.
