The University of Limerick is delighted to welcome Professor Margaret Harper, Glucksman Chair in Contemporary Writing in English. Professor Harper studies and teaches Irish and American literature of the twentieth century, modernisms, modern and contemporary poetry and transnational feminist theory. She’s a specialist in the occult life and work of W. B. Yeats and has written extensively about the mediumistic collaboration between Yeats and his wife George Hyde Lees, as well as editing scholarly editions of the manuscripts and philosophical book A Vision. She has supervised numerous PhD dissertations and MA theses.

The Glucksman Chair in Contemporary Writing in English was established through the generosity of UL Friend and UL Foundation Life Trustee Loretta Brennan Glucksman and her late husband, former UL Foundation Director, Lewis L Glucksman, reflecting their well-known interest in contemporary Ireland and particularly in modern Irish literature.
