The University of Limerick Miscarriages of Justice Project is an educational project set up by ten fourth year students in the Bachelor of Laws (Law Plus) programme. Students became involved in this research project as part of an Advanced Lawyering module. The Advanced Lawyering module is innovative and practical, giving students an opportunity to put to practical use the analytical and research skills they have developed throughout their four years at UL.

This particular project has two main aims. First, it allows students to undertake a detailed research project to learn more about Miscarriages of Justice and the Innocence Project Network, explored from an Irish perspective. Secondly, it aims to present this information as a user-friendly e-resource for fellow students, victims of miscarriages of justice, their families and those who support their innocence.

It is hoped that this website will act in raising awareness regarding miscarriages of justice in Ireland, something which has to date been lacking. This website contains a comprehensive account of the development of Innocence Projects as well as a detailed explanation of what exactly a Miscarriage of Justice is and how they have been dealt with by the Irish legal system.
