UL Students Appointed to US Embassy Youth Council
Wednesday, 12th December 2012Two UL Students have been appointed to the US Embassy Youth Council. UL Students Union President, Adam Moursy and PhD student, Keith Young are part of the Youth Council who recently greeted US Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton during her visit to Ireland.
Adam Moursy said; "“It was fantastic to be able to speak with the U.S. Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton and the U.S. Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights, Maria Otero. Both Keith and myself are incredibly proud of the fact we are representing the University of Limerick on this U.S. Embassy initiative and we look forward to continuing to represent the University further over the coming year on this council.”
The US Embassy in Ireland's Youth Council is comprised of a diverse cross-section of 45 young people, including students, young entrepreneurs, civil society members, and government representatives who have been nominated to the U.S. Embassy because they characterize the promising future of Ireland. A selection of the Youth Council members met with Secretary Clinton before the group engaged in a roundtable discussion with Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Maria Otero and Special Adviser for Global Youth Issues Zeenat Rahman.
This Youth Council is the 50th of its kind around the world.
