As part of the recent Enterprise Ireland trade mission to Brazil led by the Minister for Trade and Development Joe Costello TD, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the University of Limerick and the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

At the signing of the MOU, Josephine Page, Head of International Education Division at UL, commented on the strong relationship UL has enjoyed with USP over the last four years. “This MOU will develop and enhance our teaching and research relationship with USP and will accelerate the sharing of knowledge and ideas through exchange at academic and student levels. For example, Dr. Tina O’Toole, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences will spend several weeks this October and November lecturing and engaging with faculty and students at University of Sao Paulo”.

UL are part of the Education in Ireland delegation from Ireland visiting partner institutions in Brasilia, Sao Paulo, Santa Catarina and Rio.

Commenting on the MOU, Marina Donohoe, Head of Education at Enterprise Ireland, welcomed the strengthening of the links between Brazil’s top university, USP, and University of Limerick.

On a practical level, Education in Ireland will support this relationship through the newly-launched portal for Brazilian students to promote Ireland as a destination for international education and research. www.educationinireland.com  The portal provides information and testimonials on studying in Ireland for Brazilian students including such considerations as Visa requirements, cost of living, and facts about Ireland.
