UL set to co-host Major Conference on Irish Economic Policy
Wednesday, 30th January 2013The University of Limerick is set to co-host a major conference exploring Irish economic policy. The Dublin Economics Workshop will take place on Friday 1st February and is organised in conjunction with the ESRI, Geary Institute, UCD and the University of Limerick.
The conference will explore current issues in economic policy in key areas: Education and Children, Industrial Policy, Unemployment/Social Protection, Economics and Evaluation, and the Political Economy of Austerity.
Speaking in advance, Dr Stephen Kinsella, University of Limerick said; “This conference brings together people who should talk more, but don’t: academics, policy makers, civil servants, and politicians. The outcomes of the conference inform the public and private debate for months to come.”
Over 20 speakers will take part including: Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Frances Fitzgerald, Robert Watt, Department of Public Expenditure and Reform, John McKeon from the Department of Social Protection, Declan Hughes, Forfas, Dr Stephen Kinsella, UL, Dr Eoin Reeves, UL, Dr Helena Lenihan, UL, Dr Donal Palcic, UL Colm McCarthy, Dubrovnik International University, Fergal McCann, Central Bank.
