UL Academic Appointed to the Heritage Council
Tuesday, 7th February 2012UL History Lecturer, Dr Ciara Breathnach has been appointed to the Heritage Council in a recent announcement by Jimmy Deenihan TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
In collaboration with the National Library of Ireland, The National Archives of Ireland, Dublin Diocesan Archives, Kerry County Library and the Glucksman Library of UL, Dr Breathnach has managed several digitisation projects since 2003, the focus of which has been to preserve, conserve and increase the accessibility of historical records.
Dr Ciara Breathnach is one of six new appointments to the council together with Ted Creedon, Catherine Heaney, Dr Fidelma Mullane, Michael Parsons and Dr Kieran O’Conor.
Speaking at the announcement, Minister Deenihan said "I am delighted that each of these six appointees has accepted my invitation to serve on the Council. Their collective expertise will bring valuable and diverse talents to bear on the work of the Council and further complement the existing skill set of the board."
