The Work, Knowledge and Employment Research Theme invites you to a seminar by

Prof. Rob Briner

Birkbeck College, University of London

Titled:

Why don't Managers use Management Research?  The Role of Evidence-Based Management Approaches

All are welcome to attend

Prof. Rob Briner

Rob Briner is Professor of Organizational Psychology.  He is involved in a number of evidence-based practice initiatives, and his research also focuses on the reciprocal links between work and various aspects of well-being such as moods and emotions.  His other interests include the psychological contract at work, absence, ethnicity, work-nonwork relationships, and contextual performance.

Summary of Seminar

It has been noted by generations of management scholars that managers do not seem to make much use of the research produced by management and business schools.  Evidence-Based Management is the latest in a long line of proposed 'solutions' to this 'problem'.  This seminar will consider the nature of this problem, focusing on the application of HRM and organizational psychology, and discuss how it might be resolved through Evidence-Based Management approaches.  Please see http://www.bbk.ac.uk/orgpsych/staff/academics/briner for more details.

Prof. Briner is happy to meet individually with faculty and students to discuss their research (and getting published) before and after the seminar. If you would like to arrange a time to meet with Prof. Briner, please contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
