Using Online Portfolios and Social Media channels for building a professional profile

Abstract: This talk will focus on the concept of online portfolios and will demonstrate a range of free Social Media tools (such as Facebook,Twitter, Linkedin) that can be used in combination with online portfolios for building a solid online presence. We will review the advantages and challenges of online professional profiles and will discuss a number of existing online portfolios.
Bio: Dr. Gabriela Avram is lecturer in Digital Media and Interaction Design in the Dept. of Computer Science and Information Systems, and senior researcher at the Interaction Design Centre. She has a strong involvement in Social Media, as an early adopter, researcher and educator. Her research focuses on applications of Social Media within different domains - from multinational corporations to within the arts and educational spheres.
