University of Limerick is giving the opportunity to the Limerick public to get a glimpse inside the former Dunnes Stores Building on Sarsfield Bridge ahead of its transformation into the new UL City Campus.

The building was a regular shopping stop for generations of families in the Limerick region.

Before the transformation of the site by University of Limerick, members of the public can register to take a stroll down memory lane on the afternoon of Friday, November 1 from 1pm to 3pm.

As the venue for the official launch of the UL@50 Strategic Plan 2019 - 2024 earlier in the day on November 1, the space will feature a photographic exhibition of the buildings which have occupied the site down through the years.

University of Limerick purchased the 5,500sq former Dunnes Stores shopping centre in the city in May 2019.

“Connecting this campus with the city has been a dream for everybody associated with the university for years,” said UL President Dr Des Fitzgerald.
