Research Cluster in Emotions in Society
Launch and Conversation
We are delighted to announce that Professor Paul McCutcheon will launch a new Research Cluster in the University of Limerick, called "Emotions in Society" tomorrow at 1pm on in C1059. The launch will be followed by the first conversation of the cluster, between Dr Eimear Spain and Dr Timothy Ritchie, who will discuss the theme "Regulating Emotions" from a legal and psychological perspective.
The Research Cluster currently draws on members from areas as diverse as Sociology, Psychology, English, Business, Politics, Education, Music and Law and aims to examine the impact of emotions in society through cross-disciplinary analysis of the area. It is proposed to develop the cluster with the following themes in mind:
- Regulating Emotions (including the expression of feelings, hate crimes, societal regulation of "bad" emotions, behavioural impacts)
- Measuring Emotions (particularly emotional intelligence)
- Emotional Attachments (to property, to identity etc)
- Emotional Health (including music and poetry as means of promoting emotional and physical health)
Tea and coffee will be served at 1.45, kindly provided by the School of Law. All are welcome to come along to the launch where we would be happy to discuss the cluster in more detail.
