Four American students of the MA Traditional Music Performance at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance have joined forces with the schoolchildren of Moneygall/Dunkerrin to celebrate Daniel Pearl World Music Days with a free lunchtime concert on the 26th October, 1pm – 2pm, Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, UL.
The musicians; Dominique Dodge (Harp), Colin Botts (bouzouki/guitar), Joanna Hyde (fiddle) and Alec Brown (cello) will perform a programme of Irish traditional music arranged for the occasion. The event will be opened with a special performance of music, dance and poetry by the schoolchildren of Moneygall/Dunkerrin Parish.
Daniel Pearl World Music Days is an international network of concerts to in memory of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl who was murdered by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002. Since its inception in 2002, more than 6,734 events in 111 countries have been dedicated to the World Music Days theme of “Harmony for Humanity.”
This celebration of Daniel Pearl World Music Days is a collaboration between the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, the Embassy of the United States in Ireland and the schoolchildren of Moneygall/Dunkerrin Parish. This event is free and open to the public.
