More Opportunities for Mature Applicants
Tuesday, 3rd April 2012The University of Limerick has announced that, as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, a limited number of scholarships to the value of €2,000 each will be available to mature students. As a result, the University has extended its closing date for receipt of applications under its mature student entry scheme to the 1st May 2012.
Anne Hickey, Admissions Officer, said “One of the main considerations for mature students, particularly in the current economic climate, is the costs involved in going to University. The availability of these new scholarships is a factor that may contribute to the decision to go to college.”
Undergraduate programmes are available in many areas, including arts & humanities, business, science, engineering, education and health sciences. Details on these programmes are available from www.ul.ie/courses
Most mature students are not expected to pay tuition fees under the HEA Free Fees Initiative once they satisfy the criteria under the scheme. There are a number of financial supports available to mature students which can contribute to other costs such as the registration, examination and student services fee. Details on the free fees initiative and the range of other financial supports available to mature students are outlined at www.studentfinance.ie.
