Professor Roger Downer, President Emeritus, University of Limerick recently presented nursing student Tara Holmes with the Edith and Leslie Downer Scholarship.  The Scholarship was established in 2007 in memory of Professor Downer's mother and father, and is awarded to a first year Nursing Student attending the University of Limerick each year.  The Scholarship is valued at €1,000 and is awarded on the basis of performance in the Leaving Certificate. Tara Holmes, is a former student of St Mary's Secondary School, Newport, Co. Tipperary and a native of Tubber, Murroe, Co. Limerick. Tara is now registered for the B.Sc. in Nursing (General) and gained 550 points for entry to UL.
