To mark World Mental Health Day 2012, The Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) and The Northern Ireland Branch of The British Psychological Society (NIBPS), the two learned and professional bodies on the island of Ireland for the discipline of Psychology, invite you to attend a FREE PUBLIC LECTURE kindly hosted by the University of Limerick.

Promoting Mental Health and Psychological Well-being

World Mental Health Day 2012 takes place on Wednesday 10th of October. This year the theme of World Mental Health Day is ‘Building Resilience Together’. The PSI, NIBPS and UL Centre for Social Issues Research are hosting three speakers on this topic at the event which members of the public are welcome to attend.  
•    Dr. Patrick Ryan (Director of Clinical Psychology UL) will offer insights and advice for promoting mental health based on his state of the art understanding of mental health.  
•    Professor Orla Muldoon (Centre for Social Issues Research, UL) will outline contemporary research which highlights how social dynamics promotes psychological resilience, and
•    Dr.  Mike Watts (National Programme Co-ordinator GROW) will articulate the value of peer support and empowerment to recovery and ongoing resilience.
