Mathematics teachers are invited to the talk ‘Enhancing Students’ Mathematical Experiences’ by Tom Button on Wednesday 19th October 19.00-20.30 in room A1065, University of Limerick.

This activity is free. To celebrate Maths Week the National Centre for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching and Learning (NCE-MSTL) and the Mathematics Applications Consortium for Science and Industry (MACSI), both centred at the University of Limerick, invite you to a talk by Tom Button titled “Enhancing Students’ Mathematical Experiences”. Tom will give examples of the Further Mathematics Support Programme’s work in enriching students’ Mathematical experiences including: • Enriching the curriculum; • Mathematical opportunities outside the classroom; • Encouraging students to study more mathematics Tom Button is the support manager for the Further Mathematics Support Programme. Prior to this he taught mathematics in a number of different sixth form colleges before working for MEI on the Further Mathematics Network and as the Mathematics Specialist at the National STEM Centre in York. He has a strong interest in the use of ICT in the teaching and learning of mathematics, especially at A level, and has written software and delivered many professional development courses on this.
