In this talk, Breandán Ó Madagáin will discuss the rich heritage and enduring imprint of Irish in Limerick, and the continuing cultivation of literary composition in the language, up to the end of the 18th century.
Breandán Ó Madagáin is Professor Emeritus of Irish in National University of Ireland, Galway, a member of the Royal Irish Academy and formerly chairman of the Board of Celtic Studies in the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies. A Limerick-man, he has always had a special interest in the history of native Irish in Limerick city and county.
