The ARC (Automated Reserve Collection) at UL Library is an automated storage and retrieval system.  The facility has the capacity to store c.500,000 books.  It currently holds 110,000 lesser-used items.  The ARC is a key feature of the new library.  The key benefits are that it allows capacity for future collection growth, provides more seats by reducing space traditionally occupied by shelves and brings all collections on-site to enable quick access.  UL houses the first Dematic automated storage and retrieval system in Europe.

To request an item from the ARC, go to the Library Search screen, sign in with your UL username and password, when you find an item at the location "Glucksman Library ARC", you will see an option to request the item, when you select request, fill in the details and select "send request", the ARC will retrieve your item for you and you will receive an email when your item is ready for collection. The item can be collected from a trolley near the information desk/iZone on the ground floor of the library - (Ask at the desk if you have difficulty finding the trolley)
