Life at University of Limerick

Entry Requirements

Students who have graduated from Upper Secondary School Graduation Diploma are invited to apply for our Foundation programme

Students are required to hold the STPM (Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia - Malaysia Higher School Certificate) with good results.  Subjects should include English, Math and another language.

Students holding Diplomas or Higher Diplomas from appropriate institutions may be eligible for advanced standing.

OR

Students holding the Malaysian Unified Examination Certificate (must have grades including English, Math and another language)

Holds of a Malaysian Diploma are eligible for entry to Year 1 of a Bachelor Degree once Diploma is in a cognate discipline with high grades. 

SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) where good grades have been obtained and every subject passed including English, Mathematics, another language. 

A four-year degree from a recognised University with high grades in a discipline relevant to the postgraduate degree is sought is required for entry to a Masters Degree programme.

Certain courses may require an interview and/or work experience.

Note: Cambridge O Level English Language (1119) courses are considered comparable to English language GCSE (A*-C) standard. This means that we can accept this examination for entry to all courses that only require O-Level English for entry.  The student must obtain a grade C or higher in this examination in order to meet our requirements.

The award of diploma with good overall grades.  English Language must be presented with Grade 5 at Higher Level (Grade 4 at Standard Level if presenting IB through English) and at least Grade 4 at Standard or Higher level both in a second language and in Mathematics*  

6 distinct recognised subjects which must include: 2 subjects at GCE A Level and 4 other subjects at GCSE O Level which must include English, Mathematics and another language.

Visa

You do not require a visa when travelling with a Malaysian passport to Ireland. However, when you arrive, you will need to request a GNIB card to remain in Ireland. The UL International Office will assist with this.
