ISO 9001:2015 Accreditation
The Human Resources Division is committed to providing a quality service to all staff of the University. The HR Division is ISO accredited and the Division is audited annually by the National Standards Authority of Ireland to ensure that quality standards are retained.
ISO 9001:2015 sets out seven key principles of quality management, which are in line with the University’s quality principles and these are listed below:
— customer focus;— leadership;— engagement of people;— process approach;— improvement;— evidence-based decision making;— relationship management.
The HR Division is committed to an ethos of quality assurance in the provision and management of its services. This commitment extends to ensuring that customer, statutory and regulatory requirements, as well as the requirements of the UL QMS framework, are met at all times. The Division is also committed to setting, measuring and monitoring quality objectives in order to continually improve its performance. This quality policy is in line with ISO clause 5.2, and is kept under continual review.
In 2013, the University was awarded the HR Excellence in Research logo by the European Commission. This is awarded to Universities who are providers of a stimulating and favourable work environment for researchers and is subject to external audit. The University has agreed an action plan for researchers, setting out in detail our commitment to improving the supports in place for research staff. This action plan is actively supported at the most senior levels of the University.
In April 2019 the University was awarded a Bronze Athena SWAN award to the expanded charter. The expanded charter award recognises work undertaken to address gender equality more broadly, in arts, humanities, social sciences, business and law (AHSSBL), and in professional and support roles, and for trans staff and students. A 4 year action plan formerly signed by the President of the University is a key element of the award.
The Kemmy Business School, the Graduate Entry Medical School and the School of Allied Health were also awarded Bronze Awards to the expanded charter in April 2019. This brings to 8 the number of Faculty/School/Department Bronze Awards held by the University, the highest in the sector including the School of Education, the departments of Maths and Statistics, Biological Sciences, Physical Education and Sports Science (PESS); and the department of Physics.
The mission of the HR Division is:
