Identification Card

Welcome to the Identification Card section of the Human Resources Website.

It is the policy of the University to issue all staff with identification cards. University identification cards contain the employee's name, picture and personnel number. Staff identification cards are issued to all permanent and contract employees of the University, who have been issued contracts of employment by the Human Resources Division. Where an employee is employed on a contract basis, the staff identification card shall include an expiry date..

Staff identification cards are the property of the University of Limerick. Lost or stolen cards should be reported to the Human Resources Division. Identification cards must be returned to the University when employment ceases. On commencement of employment a new employee will be issued with a staff identification card. Permanent employees are issued with a Staff ID card which will expire either 5 years from the date the card is issued or on their retirement date, if this occurs in less than 5 years. Contract employees are issued with a Staff ID card which will expire on the expiry date of their current employment contract.

Staff ID cards are required for the following:

• to acquire a UL Parking Permit;
• to use the UL Library Facilities;
• to acquire staff membership of the UL Sports Arena:
• to gain access to secure UL buildings.
• Visiting Faculty, Researchers & Staff ID Cards

Visiting faculty, researchers and staff of associated organisations may request a temporary identification card by completing the following form: Identification Card - Visiting Faculty Application Form

Requests for the issuing of temporary identification cards are issued to:

• Visiting Faculty/Research staff.
• Staff of Administrative Centres/ Research Centres based at the University of Limerick, whose contract of employment is not with the University of Limerick.
• Human Resources will review all requests prior to the issuing of an identification card as appropriate.

The issuing of a University of Limerick Identification Card to visiting faculty/ researchers & staff of associated organisations does not confer any rights on the user in relation to any services provided to staff by the University of Limerick. It is only issued by the University of Limerick at the request of the Body/Organisation concerned for the purposes of identification. Any liability occurring in relation to the misuse of the University of Limerick identification card resides with the requesting body and the staff member(s) concerned and the identification card is issued on that basis.

***Staff ID Cards are issued Monday - Friday from 15h00 - 16h00 only in the Main Human Resources Office, D1-042.
