The 1996 Forfas report "Shaping the Future, A Strategy for Enterprise Development in Ireland", the 1997 report "Survey of Product and Process Innovation in Irish Industry", together with the Technology Foresight Programme have all have emphasised the necessity for the provision of computer and software skills in graduates who have recently qualified. In these analyses Irish manufacturing industry has identified a need for professionals with manufacturing expertise combined with advanced applied computing skills. The main aim of this course is to enable both graduates and manufacturing professionals to develop their capabilities in the design, development and implementation of advanced computer systems within modern manufacturing enterprises.
