The University of Limerick (UL) welcomes applications from prospective students from Brazil as part of the Science without Borders programme which aims to place 100,000 Brazilians in overseas higher education institutions over the next four years, to study Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects as part of a major Brazilian government initiative. Up to 850 postgraduate research students are expected undertake fully-funded PhD study in Ireland. Prospective students can view the research activity within the Science and Engineering Departments.

UL PhD students experience
Our primary objective is to provide an outstanding student experience in an enjoyable atmosphere, and enable each student to realise their ambitions. UL is proud of the fact that employers continually confirm their preference for our graduates when searching for future high achievers. From the 2010 Graduating Class, a 94% employment rate was recorded by PhD graduates with employed, PhD graduates are also more likely to seek research opportunities overseas, and 19% are working outside of Ireland.

1. Prior to making an application to UL , candidates must first agree a project with the relevant Principal Investigator / supervisor.
2. Once the Primary Supervisor has agreed to support the candidate's application, the candidate should submit an application to UL through the Postgraduate Admissions Office.
3. UL will issue a Letter of Offer to successful candidates, as required to support their Ciência sem Fronteiras funding application (see our useful links page for more information).
