Programme Learning Outcomes

Programme Content
Students undertake a total of nine modules as described below.
| Semester 1: Health Research - Methods and Methodology, Principles of Primary and Community Care, Leading and Managing Caring Practice, Project Development |
| Semester 2: Evidence Based Practice in Healthcare, Dissertation Project 1, |
Elective Modules: Students will select two modules from a range of the following Elective Modules. Not all modules may be offered in any year: Health Promotion in Nursing/Midwifery Practice, Transcultural Care, Team Collaboration in Community Care, Pain Management in Clinical Practice |

Entry Requirements
For entry to the BSc Nursing Studies programme all candidates must:
- Be a Registered Nurse and provide evidence of registration with an appropriate Nursing/Midwifery Registration Board.
- Be in possession of a primary Honours Bachelor Degree.
- Meet the English requirements, which are:Applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence of either prior successful completion of a degree qualification taught through the medium of English or meet one of the criteria below (no longer than two years prior to application):Student must hold 65% or above in English in Standard X and XII secondary examinations and University transcripts must state English is the medium of instruction
If student does not satisfy the above they must hold either:
- IELTS of 6.5 with no less than 6 in any component OR
- Internet Based TOEFL of 80 or above or Paper Based TOEFL of 550 or above
What to include with your application:
- Certified results of all examinations mentioned in your application form and/or confirmation of the award of your qualification(s)
- Evidence of English language proficiency
- Certified translatiojns of your award and transcripts if they are not in English
- A copy of your birth certificate (long document)
Recognised Prior Learning may also be considered for those applicants that do not meet the normal entry requirements.
English Language Requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence of either prior successful completion of a degree qualification taught through the medium of English or meet one of the criteria below (no longer than two years prior to application):
Acceptable English Language qualifications include the following:
Matriculation examinations from European countries where English is presented as a subject and an acceptable level is achieved
- Irish Leaving Certificate English –Ordinary Level Grade D or above
- TOEFL – 550 (paper based), 213 (computer based), 80 (internet based)
- IELTS – Minimum score of 6.5* for Business, Arts, Humanities or Education programmes. Minimum score of 6.0* for Science, Engineering, Informatics or Electronics programmes *with no less than 6 in any one component.
- English Test for English and Academic Purposes (ETAPP) – Grade C1
- GCE ‘O’ level English Language/GCSE English Language – Grade C or above
- University of Cambridge ESOL –Certificate of Proficiency in English - Grade C / Certificate in Advanced English Grade A
- GCE Examination Boards – Oxford Delegacy of Local Examinations – Grade C / Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate – School Certificate Pass 1-6 / University of London Entrance and School Examinations Council – School Certificate Pass 1-6
