Prof Ailish Hannigan
Ailish Hannigan is Associate Professor of Biomedical Statistics at the Graduate Entry Medical School, University of Limerick. She started her research career as a Research Fellow in a WHO Collaborating Centre for Oral Health Services Research where she was involved in the design and analysis of population studies and clinical trials. She joined UL as a lecturer in Statistics in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics before moving to the Graduate Entry Medical School in 2012.
Her research interests include population health, longitudinal data analysis and public and patient involvement in quantitative research. Current projects include data mining of clinical records for research in primary care, phase II clinical trials and Health Research Board funded projects on the analysis of cohort studies, disease surveillance and participatory research on ethnic minority health in Ireland. She is also a member of the Public and Patient Involvement Research group in UL http://www.ul.ie/gems/public-and-patient-involvement-ppi-research-group .
She is passionate about statistics education and has received an Excellence in Teaching Award (Special Commendation) from the University of Limerick. She is Education Officer for the Irish Statistical Association and a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society in the U.K.
