Congratulations to the UL School of Medicine (SoM) team, “Flu Fighters Strike Back” who won the National SimWars Competition on Saturday 20th March, which was hosted by UL SoM. The team included medical students Danielle Cadoret, Anna Demian, Catherine Barrington, Michael McElligott, Shane Baistrocchi and John McFarlane.

Huge congratulations also to the SoM team, “Public Enemas” who were semi-finalists on the day!

The competition was run online and hosted 20 teams from all the Universities on the island of Ireland and approximately 160 attendees. This year the competition also included students from other health professions.

A sincere thanks to Dr Alan Watts (Consultant/Adjunct SL in Emergency Medicine UHL/UL) for organising this event this year on behalf of UL and to the team that supported him including technical staff,
our clinical colleagues from institutions in Ireland and the UK who participated as judges and students who acted as simulated patients.

UL SoM has now won the event in 2020 and 2021. No pressure to our students to go for the “3 in a row” in 2022!
