Practice Education

Practice Education

Clinical placements are a vital part of student learning where they experience clinical practice and have the opportunity to develop a deeper level of learning. Practice Education is an integral part of training. It provides the student with the opportunity to perform professional duties under appropriate supervision as well as integrating theoretical and practical knowledge. In addition, it provides an introduction to the management skills necessary for the delivery of a service.

Students complete block placements or weekly sessions over the duration of their relevant course.

The University of Limerick also has an onsite Clinical Therapies Clinic which is equipped with four clinic rooms, observation facilities and excellent resources for student education and research. The clinic receives referrals from the Mid Western Region through a well-established HSE referral system.

If you are a practice educator and interested in offering a student placement, please contact the Senior Administrator at 061 233784 or practice.education@ul.ie for more information about the structure and requirements for placement sites.
