All of Engineering begins with some human need, a problem to be solved. So in CIVIL @ UL our design process begins with a problem.
On the very first day of first year the student is introduced to the design process and invited to take on the responsible role of a Civil Engineer. The problem could involve a building structure, water supply or transport need, not too complex to begin with.
Though the use of such real world problems drawn from the extensive industry experience of staff as a powerful context for learning, CIVIL @ UL students work in groups where they research and share learning, guided in this journey by experienced tutors.
