The role of faculty in the Cooperative Education Programme

Faculty visits have the effect of consolidating relationships with new and existing employers and their direct influence on employer participation is a key element to the success of the Coop Programme.

In an increasingly competitive placement environment, faculty interaction with employers is one of the key predictors of repeat placements. Employers value face-to-face meetings with faculty members as an opportunity to provide direct feedback on student performance as well as course content and future skill development. The faculty visit helps to:

  • identify opportunities and develop key contacts for collaborative initiatives, curriculum design, and industry innovation.
  • provide data-driven qualitative metrics on placements and a measure of enterprise engagement.

In the coming Academic Year, employer input into the placement assessment and evaluation will be canvassed through an online exercise completed by the Cooperative Education & Careers Division.
