INTRODUCTION
The Kemmy Business School has been running a Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS) programme since 1972 and there are over 6,000 graduates of this full-time programme, which has a distinguished reputation in the market place. We have introduced a flexible learning variant of this programme designed for mature students with work experience who wish to return to education. On this programme, you can gain a business degree over four years or choose to exit earlier with a certificate or a diploma in business studies.
Why Flexible Learning?
The BBS (Hons) by Flexible Learning programme is a response to a high level of interest in gaining a quality business qualification from people whose work or family commitments mean they are unable to attend full-time programmes. With this programme, you simply log on to study our comprehensive materials at a time, place and pace that suit you without giving up your existing commitments. With limited attendance on campus (or at outreach centres), the programme provides the opportunity to advance your education without putting your life on hold.
What Subjects?
The programme covers a broad range of business modules including Economics, Marketing, Organisational Behaviour, Human Resource Management, Accounting, Management and Communications. Weekend workshops are an integral part of the programme which will also include modules designed to assist with your return to study and IT skills.
What do I need?
Apart from motivation, students are expected to be computer literate and have access to a computer with an internet connection (for your own comfort broadband access would be ideal). You should also be familiar with using the internet. Full training and support will be provided on our online delivery system.
You will have access to telephone and email support so you should never feel that you are studying alone. You will have access to the staff at the KBS who teach the modules and you will have direct personal contact with the course director.
You will also be part of a community of people studying with the University and be able to share experiences with fellow learners using the internet discussion groups, chat facilities and by meeting face to face at the workshops.

You will attend weekend seminars and summer workshops during the programme with the core programme materials being accessible online whenever you want to study.
- This programme specifically seeks to recruit middle-level managers from a variety of disciplines working with public, private and voluntary sector organisations.
- The programme is open to applicants who hold a Level 7 (NFQ), ECTS 60 credits award (Minimum 2.2) in Management or Business Studies or equivalent.
Click for Application Guidelines & Application Form (PDF) & RPL Form to be submitted with your application.
DELIVERY
Each of the modules available by flexible learning covers the same syllabus as students attending the University for lectures. However, instead of going to lectures the flexible learning students will log onto our Web site and work through the course materials through a combination of :
-
studying online lecture materials
-
communicating through the University's course management system,
-
taking part in discussion groups and other interactive learning forms,
-
online tests and submission of assignments and the use of other IT-enabled functions.
Short study guides will be provided for all modules in the programme and participants will have continuous contact with the KBS through online support, workshops and summer schools. You will have direct personal contact with the Course Director. You will also be part of a community of people studying with the University and be able to share experiences with fellow learners .
