Get BACk Challenge 2012

Sports Ambassador for the Get BACk Challenge, Greg LeMond, was joined by a number of KBS cyclists on the Get BACk Challenge on June 30th 2012. The Get BACk Challenge is a registered charity that raises funds to support a broad range of health and activity initiatives aimed particularly at socially disadvantaged children.

UL Student Wins Deloitte Technology Challenge Competition

UL student Philip Hayes has won the Deloitte Top Technology Talent Competition for his new site Goforagoo.com, which aims to change the social networking space by exploring aspects of user interaction both on a virtual and physical level by drawing on Cloud as well as geosocial networking. The competition sought innovative ideas from university students at all levels across Ireland, on how technology can solve a
business problem. Philip has just completed his first year at UL, where
he is a Business Studies student.

UL Tops Poll for Best Student Experience

Students from around the world have voted the University of Limerick as providing the best student experience, best student support and warmest welcome. UL achieved multiple firsts in the survey which received input from more than 5000 international students currently studying across Irish universities. The International Student Barometer survey, undertaken by independent group i-Graduate, involved 238 institutions worldwide. 

Chair of Human Resource Management at DCU

UL and KBS graduate David Collings (BBS, MBS in HRM, PhD) was recently appointed as Professor of Human Resource Management at Dublin City University.  David has previously held academic appointments at the University of Sheffield and NUI Galway (where he was Head of the Management Discipline).  David joins a number of UL/KBS graduates on the DCU faculty including Dr Claire Gubbins, Dr Grainne Kelly and Dr Margaret Heffernan.

UL40 Scholarships

KBS PhD Scholarships

The Kemmy Business School, is pleased to offer 6 PhD scholarships, each worth €14,000 p.a. plus EU fees for a maximum of 3 years.

Closing date for receipt of applications is 2pm on Friday, 27th April 2012.

Shannon Consortium Regional Teaching Award

The KBS is delighted to announce that Prof. John Fahy, Department of Management & Marketing at the KBS, is the recipient of this year's Shannon Consortium Regional Award for Excellence in Higher Education Teaching.

The Consortium also acknowledge the considerable achievement of being among those short-listed for the award and the KBS is delighted that Dr. Deirdre O’ Loughlin, also of the Department of Management and Marketing at the KBS, was one of 5 short-listed candidates in the region.

Award for MSc in Financial Services

The winners of the gradireland Graduate Recruitment Awards were announced on Wednesday, 13th April 2011 at a gala dinner in The Mansion House in Dublin. Professer Donal Dineen, Dean, KBS, is delighted to report that the MSc in Financial Services won an award in the following category: Postgraduate course of the year - business. Voted for by students and judged by an independent panel of industry experts, these awards recognise Ireland's most populare recruiters across a range of employment sectors.

IFSAM 2012 World Congress

Professor Michael Morley of the Department of Management & Marketing has been voted President-Elect 2011-2012 of the International Federation of the Scholarly Associations of Management (IFSAM). The IFSAM is an association of National Academies of Management dedicated to the development of management reseach and teaching around thw World. In his role as President-Elect, Professor Morley will host the 11th World Congress of IFSAM at the University of Limerick in June 2012.
