Personal Profile:
Stephen Kinsella joined UL in September 2006. He has a BA in Economics and Mathematics from Trinity College, Dublin, an M.Econ.Sc, MA, and Ph.D in Economics from NUI, Galway under Prof. K.V. Velupillai. He holds an M.Phil in economics from the New School for Social Research in New York and a second Ph.D in economics from the New School under the direction of Prof. Edward Nell.
Research Focus:
I have several diverse research projects ongoing. First, I study stock flow consistent macroeconomic models, and try to relate them to Irish public policy. Second, in experimental economics, I'm looking at cross cultural differences in attitudes to risk with the Irish Computable and Experimental Economics Laboratory. Third, in health economics, I'm trying to measure service delivery accurately using micro costing methods in collaboration with medical colleagues. Fourth, in mathematical economics, I'm trying to come up with models to explain explosive sectoral growth in the Irish economy. I'm also interested in experimenting with my teaching, and have published a few articles on teaching in economics.
