Sheila has taught in UL since 1994. Prior to that she worked as a tax advisor with Ernst & Young, KPMG and Arthur Andersen & Co. She previously worked in the aviation finance industry as a leasing analyst, and as a programmer in both the educational software and industrial sectors. More recently, she taught at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa, and Helsinki School of Economics in Mikkeli, Finland.

 
 
Sheila has a primary degree in mathematics, a masters degree in business studies and a PhD in taxation. She qualified as a chartered accountant in 1992 (national prizewinner in the final admitting exams) and as an associate of the Institute of Taxation in Ireland in 1989. She has published widely in academic journals, and is the author of Corporate Social Responsibility: a Guide with Irish Experiences published by Chartered Accoutnants Publishing, 2012.
