Personal Profile: 

Dr. Elaine Doyle lectures primarily in the area of taxation. After completing a Masters in Accounting at the Smurfit Business School in UCD, training as a chartered accountant and completing her professional taxation qualification, she spent six years working as a practicing tax accountant before joining the UL faculty in 2002. Her initial training contract was with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Dublin where she spent over four years in the corporate tax department handling the Irish tax affairs of large Multinational companies. She subsequently managed the corporate tax function of Ernst and Young in Limerick.

 
Elaine teaches a range of accounting and taxation related subjects to both full-time and part-time students at undergraduate and postgraduate level.  She was the recipient of the UL Award for Excellence in Large Group Teaching in 2010.  She has a PhD in taxation from the University of Sheffield.  Her research interests include inter alia, professional ethics and risk management in tax practice, the tax aggression of tax practitioners, procedural justice, cognitive moral reasoning and innovation in business school teaching.  She has published nationally in internationally in all of these areas.  Elaine is Course Director of the Master of Taxation and the Chairperson of the KBS Research Ethics Committee.
