Personal Profile: 

Dr. Caoilfhionn Ní Bheacháin lectures in Communications at the Kemmy Business School and is Course Director for the BA in International Business. She teaches Communication Theory, Cultural Theory and Popular Culture, Theories of Consumerism and Taste, Communication Skills, Academic Writing and Cultural / Communication History. She has supervisory interests in a broad range of cultural and communication practices, artefacts and histories from 1900 onwards. She is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin (BA) and the NUI (MA; PhD). Prior to joining UL, she held an IRCHSS Government of Ireland doctoral scholarship. Her current research focuses on Cultural Theory and History, Communications and Irish Studies, and she has published essays in several peer-reviewed journals and edited collections including Eire-Ireland: Interdisciplinary Journal of Irish Studies and the International Journal of ELearning. During her 2010 sabbatical at the University of Barcelona where she was visiting researcher with the UB Multiculturalism and Gender Research Group, she collaborated on a comparative project exploring 20th-century Catalan, Spanish and Irish cultural histories. Caoilfhionn was awarded the UL Teaching Excellence Award for 2008.
