Prof. Ingrid Fulmer
Ingrid Fulmer (Ph.D., Vanderbilt University) is an Associate Professor in the School of Management and Labor Relations at Rutgers University. She has research interests both in human resource management and in organizational behavior. She does research on the effects of human resource practices on workers and on organizational performance, with particular interest in executive and non-executive compensation and employee benefits. She also studies social interactions (e.g., teams, interpersonal influence, citizenship behaviors) and is especially interested in how those interactions are shaped by individual differences and by choice of influence tactics (e.g., communication medium, strategic use of emotion, unethical behavior). Her research has been published in Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Academy of Management Annals, Business Ethics Quarterly, and Journal of Business Ethics, as well as other outlets. She is currently an associate editor of Academy of Management Review, and has served or is serving on the editorial boards of Academy of Management Review, Personnel Psychology, Organizational Psychology Review, and Negotiation and Conflict Management Research. She recently completed a 3 year term on the executive committee of the HR Division of the Academy of Management.

Summary of Seminar
Learnings as an Author, Reviewer, and Associate Editor.
Management researchers often aspire to develop and publish theoretical work in Academy of Management Review, but for many there is a lot of mystery and uncertainty surrounding the process. In this presentation I will reflect on what I have learned and continue to learn through my association with AMR, first as an author of a published paper, then as a reviewer, and now as an associate editor (AE) of the journal, about how to develop better theory and how to craft better manuscripts. I will share some of the feedback I have received as an author, some tips for being the kind of excellent reviewer you would like to have on your own paper, and some common mistakes that we as associate editors see authors make with theoretical manuscripts.
