21st John Lovett Memorial Lecture

Class War versus Social Compact? A Contemporary Analysis of the 1913 Lockoutdelivered by Padraig Yeates.
 
Padraig Yeates is a former Industry and Employment Correspondent with the Irish Times. He is the author of a number of books including 'Lockout: Dublin 1913' and (with Tim Hastings and Brian Sheehan) 'Saving the Future', a history of the Social Partnership experiment in Ireland. He is currently a member of the 1913 Committee established to mark the Centenary of the Great Dublin Lockout. He is also a media consultant working mainly with unions. His clients include SIPTU and the TEEU.
 
 The lecture takes place on Thursday, March 21st 2013, 7.30pm at the Kemmy Business School Lecture Theatre (KBG-12) at the University of Limerick.
 
 The event will be chaired by Michael McDonnell, Managing Director, CIPD Ireland
 
A number of Best Student awards will also be made on the night including the John Lovett Memorial Prize for best student on the BBS (Human Resource Management) and the Dermot Foley Memorial Prize for best student on the BA (Human Resource Management).

 The Annual John Lovett Memorial Lecture Series is jointly organised by the Department of Personnel & Employment Relations, Kemmy Business School, and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) in Ireland. The Series was established in 1993 in memory of John Lovett, former chairman of the CIPD in Ireland (then Institute of Personnel Management), Personnel Director and Trade Union Official.
