Introduction to the Department of Management and Marketing

The Department of Management and Marketing is one of four departments within the Kemmy Business School. It is a committed teaching and research community with academics across subject specialisms in Marketing, Management, Information Management, Communications and Entrepreneurship. The department is a significant contributor to the school's Bachelor of Business Studies Programmes (BBS) through the provision of a number of core modules, through the Major Option in Marketing and through Minor Options in Entrepreneurship, Management and Information Management. 

We have an embedded research culture which informs not only teaching and curriculum development, but also policy and practice in Ireland and beyond. We have contributed to important debates and led research in our respective fields as reflected through our publications, special issue editorships, conference contributions, editorial board memberships and services to the international academic community. Faculty inform management and marketing in Ireland through their contributors in the Irish Journal of Management, the Irish Marketing Review and the Irish Business Journal. We regularly publish in internationally acclaimed journals including the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Journal of World Business, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Sloan Management Review, Management International Review, Journal of Information Management, International Journal of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Managerial Psychology, Journal of Operations Management, R&D Management, Marketing Theory, Journal of Air Transportation and Service Industries Journal.

We are committed to ensuring that all students in the department have a positive teaching  and learning experience. Many of us have won local, national and regional 'Excellence in Teaching Awards', including from the University of Limerick, the Shannon Regional Consortium and, most recently NAIRTL.  Faculty are committed to ongoing professional development and many are alumni of the International Teachers Programme (ITP). Colleagues have  participated in courses on Participant Centred Learning (Harvard Business School) and Entrepreneurship Education (Babson College), and have held Visiting Professorships and/or enjoyed sabbaticals/fulbright scholarships at prestigious Universities including 'Monash University', Melbourne, Australia, 'Embry Riddle', Daytona, U.S.A., 'University of St Thomas' Houston, USA, 'IESE Business School', Barcelona, Spain, 'University of Nottingham' in the UK and 'Helsinki School of Economics', Mikkeli Business Campus in Finland.

We have a vibrant community of postgraduate students on our taught Masters programmes. We offer opportunities for students who have never studied business or management to pursue an MA in Business Management.  Students with a significant business background can advance their understanding and develop their expertise by taking the MBS in International Entrepreneurship Management  and the MSc in International Management and Global Business.  Students from diverse backgrounds (including business) can get real insights into marketing through the innovative MSc in Marketing, Consumption & Society
