The MSc in Risk Management and Insurance offers you a unique blend of insurance, risk management and financial services content. These areas are becoming increasingly interconnected and the prominence of risk management as a specialised profession has continued to grow in a complex and volatile economic environment. Ireland is a key location for insurance and reinsurance services and is establishing itself as a location for research and development in the insurance of emerging industries and technologies.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Normally applicants will possess a minimum 2:2 honours primary degree in a relevant discipline (for example, business, finance, economics, social science and mathematics). However, students from cognate backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.
In the case of international students, the overseas equivalent as determined by the Course Team in consultation with UL Graduate School Admissions will be acceptable.
Where candidates are non-native English language speakers, the candidate should meet the University’s English language requirements. In exceptional circumstances an applicant who cannot satisfy the undergraduate requirement may be accepted on the basis of relevant professional experience.
DELIVERY
The MSc in Risk Management and Insurance is a unique programme, offering a cohesive blend of modules which examine the key momentum areas of insurance and risk management: financing life products, comprehending regulatory challenges, modelling extreme events both natural and man-made, developing financial risk forecasting models. This is underpinned by a strong suite of modules in finance to enable students to traverse the increasingly interconnected spheres of financial and insurance risks. It is a full-time 1 year programme with two taught semesters plus a dissertation which is to be completed in the summer semester.A variety of pedagogical approaches, appropriate to both the discipline and to the level of the award, will be employed in the delivery of the programme including interactive lectures and tutorials, guided reading, small group team work, seminars and workshops, e-learning, ‘action learning’ through case studies. We expect to enhance the student experience through guest speakers from industry and related academic areas.
The programme incorporates professional development modules and a suite of electives to enable you to tailor the programme to match your specific career goals.
A distinctive and integral part of the programme is the international business trip.
