INTRODUCTION
This programme aims to help middle managers develop themselves, their teams and their organisation. There is a strong focus on personal development in this one year programme and in enhancing a range of managerial competencies.

Learning Approach:
Five key competencies are formally assessed at a Development Centre at the beginning of the programme, and again at the end of the programme to evaluate progress made. Assessment methods at the development centres include group discussion, individual in-tray exercises, formal presentation, and completion of personality profiles.
The five competencies are:
- Communication skills,
- Teamwork,
- Influencing skills,
- Planning and organising
- Strategic thinking
Each participant selects a senior manager from the organisation to act as a mentor to help put together a realistic personal development plan to be carried out during the year. Mentors provide practical advice on how to develop the five competencies in the organisational context, and often act as assessors at the development centres.
