INTRODUCTION
The Diploma in Health Services Management is suitable for both public sector and private organisations, focuses on identifying and integrating fundamental principles of management in the context of a changing healthcare environment within Ireland.

Programme Objectives
On completion of the programme participants will be able to:

Appraise current economic, social and administrative frameworks in healthcare and personal services

Recognise and integrate a broader perspective of the fundamental management issues, problems and strategies in other functional areas of healthcare and personal social services in Ireland and internationally

Demonstrate and apply skills in managing people, resources, projects, and information technology and research & communications techniques

Exercise appropriate managerial judgement in the planning, design and delivery of healthcare and personal social services

Initiate and complete independent research involving the conceptualisation and analysis of management practice within healthcare and personal social services

COURSE STRUCTURE

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Those who aspire to or currently hold a management position and have a minimum of four years’ experience, or who wish to develop and exercise appropriate managerial judgement in the planning, design and delivery of healthcare and personal social services in Ireland.
Participants require either completion of the Certificate in Health Services Management or possess an equivalent management qualification and have a minimum of four years’ experience in health and personal social services.
DELIVERY
This course requires attendance at the University of Limerick for one day every two weeks.
Continuous assessment is a core feature of the programme and most modules will have tutor marked assignments.
There will also be some formal assessments at the end of each semester.
