Certificate in Health Services Management (NFQ Level 6)

INTRODUCTION

 

The Certificate in Health Services Management equips participants with the skills to manage themselves, their work and the people they work with more effectively. This one year programme provides a sound introduction to management in the health services for those wishing to build upon their experience and to gain a formal qualification in management.

Programme Objectives

On completion of the programme participants will be able to:
 

  • Appreciate fundamental core health service management principles and theories

  • Apply a comprehensive range of management skills and techniques to improve individual, team and organisational performance within the health services

  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills, confidence and ability to achieve personal targets and goals

  • Utilise and apply acquired skills and knowledge towards improved individual, team and overall health services performance.

COURSE STRUCTURE

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

The programme is open to managers or those aspiring to a managerial role with a minimum of three years organisational experience in the health and personal social services.

DELIVERY


This programme is run from two centres: University of Limerick and INO headquarters in Dublin.
 

  • Attendance requirement is one day every three weeks from September to April.
  • The programme is run by distance learning. Every three weeks skills based workshop is held, at which practical exercises reinforce the learning material studied by participants in the previous weeks.
  • Module books and guided reading support participants between workshops.
  • Work based assignments are completed for each module, with detailed written feedback from the tutors.
  • Ongoing coaching, advice and support are provided for the duration of the programme.
  • Successful completion of this programme provides entry to the one year Diploma in Health Services Management.
