Bernal Scientist Honoured by Chief Minister of Maharashtra, India

Dr Nanasaheb Thorat, Science Foundation Ireland – Irish Research Council Pathway Fellow of the Department of Physics and Bernal Institute has recently been honoured by the State of Maharashtra, India for scientific achievements in cancer research and contributions to industry-academia collaboration.

He received this honour at the Global Investor Conclave organised in Mumbai by the State of Maharashtra between 4 and 6 January 2023.

The Conclave brings together bright minds and investors including from around the world to discuss new technologies and investment opportunities in the State.

Following his lecture on the future listing health technologies, Dr. Thorat personally briefed both the Honourable Chief Minister and Honourable Minster of Industrial Developement and Education of the State of Maharashtra. During the lecture and the briefings, Dr Thorat highlighted the role of Irish state agencies especially Enterprise Ireland to foster industry and academia collaboration to tackle scientific challenges.
